Trip Info

So, a while ago, Graham and I started talking about taking a trip and going somewhere we've never been before. We talked about lots of different places, like New York, Chicago, California, etc. After a while, I started looking into different places, and finally we decided we'd go to California! Neither of us have ever been there and are really excited.

I originally thought that we would just fly to San Diego and then drive wherever we felt like going until we got to San Francisco, just staying in hotels we found along the way. Then, surprise surprise, I got super nervous about that, and I decided I couldn't stay in random hotels. There might be bed bugs or something, and I wouldn't know because I didn't research it and read all the reviews. Oprah did an episode where these people picked up bed bugs and brought them home in their luggage. Mayjah yuck and super gross. Y'all know I am not having that. So, I started planning where we'd go each day and where we should stay along the way. I don't really know what we will do in each place, but I feel much better knowing that we have clean, non-bed bug hotels to stay in on the trip. Anyway, it just wouldn't be right if me, of all people, didn't have a schedule. : )

We are flying to San Diego on Friday, July 9th and are renting a car at the airport to have in the city, and plan to keep it until we get to San Francisco. We are staying in San Diego until Sunday morning and then spending Sunday in Los Angeles. I am really excited about L.A.! I would love to see some celebs, and I plan for us to eat somewhere famous-ish. We don't have much time in L.A., but we are excited to just drive around and see the sights. We are leaving L.A. sometime Sunday afternoon and drive through Malibu and Santa Barbara to Morro Bay. It's about a 3 1/2 hour drive, but should be very pretty, and I'm hoping we get to watch the sunset on the drive. Morro Bay is the 1/2 way point between L.A. and San Francisco, so we thought it would be a good place to stop. We aren't spending much time there, just spending the night and heading out again on Monday morning.

On Monday we will go to Carmel. It's at 2 1/2 hour drive from Morro Bay to Carmel, but we will get to drive through Big Sur which I hear is very pretty and has huge waves. We are staying in Carmel at a really cute bed & breakfast on the beach. I'm really excited about it! We've never stayed at a bed & breakfast before! We are spending Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning in Carmel. When we leave Carmel, we are driving thru Monterey and 17 Mile Drive. It's a drive that goes through the Pebble Beach golf course. We are also going through Santa Cruz. They have a huge beach boardwalk with a ferris wheel and other rides. I hope we have time to get out and play there!

We should be in San Francisco by late afternoon on Tuesday. We are staying there the rest of the week, except for on Thursday when we go to Napa! Friday will be our last day, and we are taking the "red-eye" home on Friday night. We figured it would save us a night in the hotel and instead of wasting a day of travel, we can travel all night and get home early Saturday. Can't wait to go! I am going to try not to use the bbm/phone unless there is a major emerg. So, I am going to do my best to not be on the phone (I know Graham will be excited!) and just put everything on here each day. Hopefully it will make me upload pictures, and it will help me remember what we did.
